Welcome to our web site!

We are the Catholic Parish serving the 'smallest' City in England, Wells! Through a shared history of over a hundred years we have been linked to nuns of the Carmelite Order, hence our dedication to St Joseph & St Teresa of Avila. We share our priest with our sister parish of St Michael in Shepton Mallet. Both are in the Glastonbury Deanery and the Diocese of Clifton - www.cliftondiocese.com

Naturally the heart and soul of our parish is the celebration of the Mass. From it flows the energy and spiritual vitality we need to live the Faith day by day. It is our joy and delight to worship Almighty God as a parish family. We take pride in our church, our liturgy and our music.

You will find, I hope, that we are a welcoming parish, not only at Mass but also in our varied calendar of social events. We are always trying to deepen our relationship with God in Christ, through spiritual and adult formation programmes and lectures. These thrive in the parish.

We seek to be attentive to the Word of God, guided by the Holy Spirit and Tradition, and faithful to the Magisterium of the Church. We pray that this contact with the Father, Who reveals Himself in Christ, will make us a caring and evangelising parish, supporting all members and reaching out into the City and villages around us. We aim to make full use of people’s talents to do this.

Please don't hesitate to contact me or any member of the Pastoral Council, which helps me with my priestly ministry, especially if you have particular needs or talents. I am always happy to listen to new ideas.

God Bless you
Fr Philip Thomas
